About PriceMart.lk
PriceMart.lk is a non-profit, community project. We make no revenue, carry no ads, and sell nothing. Our only purpose is to give every Sri Lankan car buyer a clear intuition of how the used car market behaves — under different makes, models, years, and price conditions.
Our Mission
“To give every Sri Lankan the intuition to understand how the used car market behaves — across makes, models, years, mileage, and location — so they can make smarter decisions without relying on a seller's word.”
We are not a marketplace. We do not facilitate sales. We have no financial relationship with any seller, dealer, or platform. PriceMart.lk exists solely to make market data transparent and accessible to the public — for free, forever.
Every day, our system collects active vehicle listings from ikman.lk and riyasewana.com. We process those listings to compute average, median, minimum, and maximum prices for every make, model, and year-of-manufacture combination — then visualise how prices shift when you change the criteria: a different year, a different chassis, a different transmission, a different mileage range.
The goal is not to tell you what to buy. It is to show you how the market responds to each variable — so you can build your own intuition. Does a 2015 Toyota Aqua actually hold its value better than a 2013? Does mileage matter more for a Vitz or a Prius? Does the automatic version of a model actually cost more on the used market? PriceMart.lk lets you answer these questions with real data, not guesswork.
Because we have no commercial interest in your decision, the data is presented as neutrally as possible. We are equally happy if you use our data to negotiate a better price, decide not to buy, or simply satisfy your curiosity about how Sri Lanka's car market works.
Live listings from ikman.lk and riyasewana.com — Sri Lanka's two largest vehicle marketplaces. We do not fabricate or estimate prices.
Listings are scraped and processed daily. Price averages, medians, and trend data update every 24 hours.
We apply statistical outlier detection to remove anomalous listings — a typo turning Rs. 3.5M into Rs. 35M, for example. Filtered listings are excluded from averages and medians but still visible in the listings tab.
Average (mean), median, minimum, and maximum are calculated per make/model/year combination. Median is the most useful benchmark for buyers — it's less affected by outliers than the average.
50+ makes, 200+ models, years of manufacture from the early 1990s to present. Models with fewer than 3 listings in a given year are excluded from that year's price stats to prevent unreliable benchmarks.
All prices are asking prices from live listings — they reflect what sellers are asking, not confirmed sale prices. Actual transaction prices may vary. Use the median as a negotiation anchor, not a guarantee.
PriceMart.lk covers used (second-hand) vehicles only. The platform focuses exclusively on the Sri Lanka domestic used car market — not new vehicle prices or imports at the point of entry.
Filter any model by year of manufacture to see the current median and average. This is your benchmark before visiting a seller.
Check whether prices for a model are rising or falling over the last 30 days. Rising = act fast. Falling = you have negotiating room.
Pit two models head-to-head to see which offers better value at the same price bracket.
Find the most listed, most affordable, and fastest-selling models in the Sri Lanka market.
FOUNDER & DEVELOPER
PriceMart.lk is a solo project built and maintained by Yasas Tharinda — a Sri Lanka-based software engineer. The platform was created out of a simple frustration: there was no reliable, data-driven way to understand what a used car was actually worth in the local market. This tool is the answer to that problem, built with the belief that transparent data should be free for everyone.
For questions, data requests, or to report an incorrect listing, reach out via the PriceMart.lk Facebook page or connect with Yasas directly.
