PriceMart.lk is a free platform providing used car price analytics and a Marketplace for buying and selling cars directly. We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties. This policy explains what data we collect across the analytics/dashboard side of the site and the Marketplace, and why.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4): We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use PriceMart.lk — pages viewed, time on site, device type, and approximate geographic region. This data is aggregated and anonymised. We do not collect names, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information through analytics.
Cookies: Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish unique visitors and sessions. These pages of the site (price dashboard, compare tool, budget finder, blog, tax calculator) have no account system of their own — no passwords or profile data are collected there.
The Marketplace (pricemart.lk/marketplace) is a separate, opt-in part of the site for posting and browsing car listings. Creating an account and posting a listing requires you to actively provide information — unlike the analytics above, this is not passively collected.
Account data: when you sign up, we collect your email address, a hashed password (we never store your password in plain text), your name, and an optional phone number. We send a verification email to confirm your address before your account is fully active.
Listing data: when you post a car for sale, we collect and publish the listing details you provide — title, make, model, year, price, mileage, transmission, fuel type, body type, location, description, photos, and a contact phone number for buyers to reach you. Listing details are publicly visible to anyone browsing the Marketplace, including search engines and AI crawlers, since the goal is for buyers to find and contact you.
Profile & activity data: your display name and avatar (if you set one) are shown publicly on your listings and public profile page. We also store your favorites, likes, comments, and any reports you file against a listing, tied to your account.
What stays private: your email address, password hash, and account-level phone number (if you don't choose to show it on a listing) are never displayed publicly — only used for login, account recovery, and verification.
Analytics data is used solely to understand which features are useful and to improve the platform — it is not used for advertising or profiling. Marketplace account and listing data is used to operate the Marketplace itself: authenticating you, publishing your listings, connecting buyers and sellers, and enforcing our reporting/moderation process. We do not use Marketplace data for advertising or sell it to third parties.
All vehicle price data shown on the Dashboard, Compare, and Budget tools is sourced from public listings on ikman.lk and riyasewana.com. PriceMart.lk is not affiliated with either platform. We display aggregated statistics only from these sources — no individual seller data, personal contact information, or listing identifiers from ikman.lk or riyasewana.com are stored or published. (This is separate from Marketplace listings, which are posted directly by PriceMart.lk users — see above.)
Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default per Google's standard configuration. Aggregated vehicle price data is retained indefinitely to support trend analysis. Marketplace account data is retained for as long as your account is active; listings are retained until you delete them or mark them sold and remove them. If you delete your Marketplace account, your listings, comments, and profile data are removed.
You may opt out of Google Analytics tracking at any time using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser.
If you have a Marketplace account, you can edit or delete your listings and update your profile at any time from your account. To fully delete your account and associated data, or for any other privacy request, contact us using the details below.
PriceMart.lk does not verify the identity of Marketplace sellers or the accuracy of listing details beyond basic moderation. Treat any online car listing with the same caution you would on any classifieds site: meet in person in a safe public location, inspect the vehicle and its documents before paying, and never wire money to someone you haven't met. Report suspicious listings using the report button on the listing page.
