I own a 2006 (new shape) Toyota RAV4, 2400cc petrol, 4WD, fully loaded with electric options. It's 4WD, but not really suited for serious off-roading, though it handles our hill country roads and rough estate tracks without trouble. The biggest downside is spare parts. Genuine parts are very expensive in Sri Lanka and often not readily available, so Toyota Lanka or local dealers have to import them, which means waiting and paying a lot. Reconditioned parts from Japan are sometimes the more practical option. Fuel economy is around 7 to 9 km per litre, which hurts with current petrol prices. That said, nothing in its class matches it for build quality, comfort, speed, pickup and, most of all, looks. It's also very reliable. If you can handle the running costs, it's a car you'll enjoy owning.
