The Honda Fit (Jazz in European markets) has three distinct generations in Sri Lanka's used car market, each with a different powertrain philosophy and price tier. GD1 (Gen 1, 2001–2008) averages Rs. 4.56M–5.30M. GE6 (Gen 2 NA, 2008–2014) spans Rs. 5.51M–9.66M. GP5 (Gen 3 Hybrid, 2013–2020) ranges Rs. 7.60M–9.98M for its peak years. Total market: 2,997 listings, median Rs. 7.47M.

The Honda Fit is called "Jazz" in Europe and some Asian markets — base_model is always "fit" in the Sri Lanka market regardless of which name appears on the listing. A listing titled "Jazz G" is the same car as "Fit G".

In Sri Lanka, GD1, GE6, GK3, and GP5 are the common chassis. GD2 (Gen 1 1.5L) and GK5 (Gen 3 RS) appear occasionally — GK5 is the RS grade with the 1.5L engine. The GP5 uses Honda's Sport Hybrid i-DCD system — a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with integrated motor, the same architecture as the Vezel RU3. Sri Lanka stop-go driving has generated documented DCT maintenance issues on GP5 as well; this is covered in the buying guide section.

GD1 (Gen 1) — Price by Year of Manufacture

The GD1 uses Honda's L13A 1,339cc SOHC i-DSI engine — a twin-spark-plug design producing 86 PS at 5,700 rpm. The Gen 1 Fit introduced the "Magic Seat" — rear seats fold completely flat into the floor, creating a near-van-level cargo hold (1,492L with seats folded). This cargo flexibility is unmatched at the GD1 price point. CVT transmission on most units.

200843Rs. 5.30MRs. 4.50MRs. 6.20M

The 2007 GD1 has the deepest Gen 1 pool (117 listings) at Rs. 5.21M average — this is the budget buyer's entry point for a Honda Fit. The GD1's L13A i-DSI engine has a reliable track record but twin-plug ignition system maintenance requires attention; verify spark plug condition and timing chain on purchase.

GE6 (Gen 2 NA) — Price by Year of Manufacture

The GE6 upgrades to the L13B 1,339cc SOHC i-VTEC engine producing 90 PS — same displacement but with Variable Valve Timing, which improves mid-range response and efficiency vs the Gen 1 i-DSI. The Gen 2 body is more aerodynamic and the interior is significantly more refined. CVT remains standard. Grades: G (base), A, L, S, RS (1.5L GE8/GK5 only).

201439Rs. 9.66MRs. 8.90MRs. 11.00M

The 2012 GE6 is the Gen 2 sweet spot — 174 listings at Rs. 7.63M average, with excellent listing depth. The 2013 and 2014 GE6 units price close to the GP5 (Hybrid) range, making the GP5 a natural comparison at those budgets. For buyers choosing between a 2013 GE6 (Rs. 8.90M) and a 2013 GP5 (Rs. 7.60M), the GP5 is actually cheaper — but carries the DCT risk discussed below.

GP5 (Gen 3 Hybrid) — Price by Year of Manufacture

The GP5 uses Honda's Sport Hybrid i-DCD system — a 1,339cc L13B petrol engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) with an integrated electric motor, producing 110 PS combined. JC08 fuel economy is quoted at 36.4 km/L. In practice, Sri Lankan owners in urban driving report 20–26 km/L — excellent for a 1.3L car.

DCT caution: Honda's i-DCD DCT has documented clutch pack wear in stop-go urban driving, identical to the RU3 Vezel concern. Estimated repair cost in Sri Lanka: Rs. 300,000–400,000. Honda issued a service campaign in some markets. Always request a DCT service history and clutch inspection report before purchasing any GP5. A GP5 with verified DCT maintenance is a sound purchase; one without documentation carries real financial risk.

201715Rs. 8.94MRs. 7.75MRs. 13.20M

The 2014 GP5 has 527 listings — the most liquid single Fit year in Sri Lanka — at an average of Rs. 7.76M. This is the market's reference price for the Fit Hybrid. The 2013 GP5 (271 listings, Rs. 7.60M) offers Rs. 160K savings at slight age cost. The 2016 GP5 average of Rs. 9.98M is skewed by high-grade units (Hybrid S, Hybrid F Package) and very low supply (27 listings).

GK3 (Gen 3 NA) vs GP5 (Gen 3 Hybrid) at the Same Price

At equivalent 2013–2015 model years, the GK3 (NA) and GP5 (Hybrid) trade within Rs. 150K–400K of each other:

ChassisYOMListingsAvg PriceDifference
GK3 (NA)201384Rs. 7.50M
GP5 (Hybrid)2013271Rs. 7.60M+Rs. 100K for Hybrid
GK3 (NA)201490Rs. 7.80M
GP5 (Hybrid)2014527Rs. 7.76M-Rs. 40K (Hybrid cheaper!)

The market has priced the DCT risk into the GP5: it trades at or below the GK3 NA in 2014. A verified-DCT GP5 at Rs. 7.76M against a GK3 at Rs. 7.80M is an easy choice — but an unverified GP5 is a warranty lottery.

Which Chassis Should You Buy?

  • Budget Rs. 4.5M–5.5M: 2007 GD1 (117 listings, Rs. 5.21M). The Magic Seat is a genuine utility advantage no competitor matches at this price. Check timing chain and i-DSI plugs.
  • Budget Rs. 5.5M–7.5M: 2012 GE6 (174 listings, Rs. 7.63M). Well-maintained, modern i-VTEC engine, no hybrid complexity risk.
  • Budget Rs. 7.5M–9M and willing to verify DCT: 2014 GP5 (527 listings, Rs. 7.76M). With Honda service documentation for the DCT, this is excellent value. Without documentation, pivot to the GK3.
  • Budget Rs. 7.5M–9M and want zero DCT risk: 2014 GK3 (90 listings, Rs. 7.80M). Same generation body, CVT, no hybrid complexity.
