The Daihatsu Mira is Sri Lanka's most affordable kei car alternative to the Suzuki Alto — 1,465 listings, average Rs. 6.33M, median Rs. 6.55M. Two chassis generations share the market: the LA300 series (Gen 7, 2011–2018) averaging Rs. 5.18M–5.65M and the LA350 series (Gen 8, 2018–present) averaging Rs. 6.48M–6.97M for peak years. The price gap between generations is modest — approximately Rs. 1.3M–1.5M — making the LA350 a surprisingly accessible step-up.
The Mira e:S is an eco-variant (sedan-styled) that uses distinct chassis codes (LA300S/LA350S vs the standard LA300V/LA350V). Both appear in Sri Lanka listings. The "e:S" name uses a colon — "ES", "es", or "E:S" in listings are naming errors that should be "e:S".
Chassis Overview
| Chassis | Type | Generation | Years | Engine | Output |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| LA300V / LA310V | Standard Mira | Gen 7 | 2011–2018 | KF-VE / KF-DET 658cc | 52 PS NA / 64 PS Turbo |
| LA300S / LA310S | Mira e:S | Gen 7 | 2011–2018 | KF-VE 658cc | 52 PS |
| LA350V / LA360V | Standard Mira | Gen 8 | 2018–present | KF-VE 658cc | 52 PS |
| LA350S / LA360S | Mira e:S | Gen 8 | 2018–present | KF-VE 658cc | 52 PS |
In Sri Lanka, LA300V and LA350V are the dominant standard Mira chassis. The LA310V and LA360V (4WD) are rare. The e:S variants (LA300S/LA350S) appear in smaller numbers — they have a slightly different body styling (more rounded sedan-like rear) and are specifically the eco-focused variant with optimised aerodynamics. All non-turbo Miras use the same KF-VE 658cc engine.
Grades: Standard Mira — L (base), G (mid), X (top), GF (older), CL. Mira e:S — e:S L, e:S G, e:S X. Special variants: Mira Gino (retro), Mira Cocoa (cute-style), Mira Tocot (2018+ lifestyle). All of these are base_model "mira" regardless of sub-variant.
LA300V (Gen 7 Standard) — Price by Year of Manufacture
The LA300V uses the KF-VE 658cc inline-3 naturally-aspirated engine producing 52 PS at 7,200 rpm — higher revving than the Suzuki Alto's R06A. The Gen 7 body introduced a more contemporary design over the boxy Gen 6 (L275V). CVT transmission is standard on most grades.
| YOM | Listings | Avg Price | Min | Max |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2015 | 27 | Rs. 5.18M | Rs. 4.30M | Rs. 5.69M |
| 2016 | 62 | Rs. 5.36M | Rs. 4.65M | Rs. 5.95M |
| 2017 | 74 | Rs. 5.65M | Rs. 5.00M | Rs. 6.49M |
The 2017 LA300V has the deepest Gen 7 pool at 74 listings, average Rs. 5.65M. At this price, it competes directly with the Suzuki Alto HA36S (2015 at Rs. 3.83M — significantly cheaper) and the slightly older Nissan March K12 (Rs. 4.31M–4.71M). The Mira's advantage over the Alto at similar price points is the KF-VE engine's higher rev range and the generally newer generation of the LA300 vs equivalent-age HA25S Alto.

LA300S (Mira e:S Gen 7) — Price by Year
| YOM | Listings | Avg Price | Min | Max |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2015 | 6 | Rs. 5.31M | Rs. 4.89M | Rs. 5.63M |
| 2016 | 6 | Rs. 5.48M | Rs. 5.25M | Rs. 5.65M |
| 2017 | 7 | Rs. 5.61M | Rs. 5.39M | Rs. 5.98M |
The LA300S e:S variant trades at near-parity with the LA300V at the same year — the e:S premium is negligible. The e:S styling is a matter of preference; mechanically they share the same KF-VE engine and CVT. Supply is very thin (6–7 listings per year) — you have limited negotiating room with e:S units.
LA350V (Gen 8 Standard) — Price by Year of Manufacture
The LA350V introduces a refreshed body style with more modern front-end design and improved safety features (Daihatsu's Smart Assist pre-collision system on higher grades). The KF-VE engine is carried over from Gen 7 with minor refinements. New Mira sub-variants introduced in Gen 8 include the Tocot (lifestyle-oriented styling package).
| YOM | Listings | Avg Price | Min | Max |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2018 | 19 | Rs. 5.60M | Rs. 4.95M | Rs. 6.50M |
| 2019 | 8 | Rs. 5.60M | Rs. 5.18M | Rs. 5.70M |
| 2023 | 99 | Rs. 6.48M | Rs. 5.69M | Rs. 7.80M |
| 2024 | 312 | Rs. 6.70M | Rs. 5.95M | Rs. 7.99M |
| 2025 | 321 | Rs. 6.97M | Rs. 5.59M | Rs. 9.00M |
| 2026 | 26 | Rs. 8.03M | Rs. 6.60M | Rs. 9.00M |
The 2024 LA350V has 312 listings at Rs. 6.70M — the dominant Mira year in Sri Lanka. The 2025 LA350V (321 listings, Rs. 6.97M) is closing in as the market shifts to newer stock. The Rs. 5.59M minimum in 2025 is an anomaly; the realistic floor for a verified 2025 LA350V is Rs. 6.20M+.
The Rs. 1.05M gap between the 2017 LA300V (Rs. 5.65M) and 2024 LA350V (Rs. 6.70M) is remarkably small for 7 years of newer manufacture — the Mira market has not appreciated steeply between generations. This makes the 2024 LA350V good value relative to the older Gen 7.
LA350V vs Suzuki Alto HA36S: The Budget Kei Comparison
| Model | YOM | Listings | Avg Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Daihatsu Mira LA350V | 2024 | 312 | Rs. 6.70M |
| Suzuki Alto HA36S | 2018 | 106 | Rs. 5.14M |
| Suzuki Alto HA97S Hybrid | 2024 | 29 | Rs. 6.88M |
At Rs. 6.70M, the 2024 LA350V competes directly against the 2024 Suzuki Alto Hybrid (HA97S, Rs. 6.88M). The Hybrid Alto offers a modern mild-hybrid system for Rs. 180K more; the LA350V offers slightly more Daihatsu-specific features (Smart Assist on higher grades) for Rs. 180K less. A 2018 HA36S Alto (Rs. 5.14M) is significantly cheaper but 6 years older — the choice depends on how much you value newer manufacture.
